Devlog 3 - Sana

Hello everyone! I don’t have much to update this week, but I’m posting the progress I made since the last class.

Progress:

Scene Writing (for interaction)

I wrote the first haunting scene where the ghost messes with our NPC’s (who’s currently called Timmy) music on his phone to get his attention.

We’ve planned to limit the hauntings to three instead of ten. Each haunting will have four interactions through which the ghost tries to make itself known. I’ve written the interactions script, the tone leans into comedy with a sarcastic, mildly exasperated ghost POV,  check out the first interaction.

The script needs editing and dialogue triggers are going to be added soon.

 Finding Assets

I looked up free low-poly  environment and prop assets suitable for the aesthetic we established for the game (mostly on itch)

Will be adding the ones that match our game’s vibe to the house Lavanya modeled.

Pending:

3D Modeling of NPC (in-progress)

I didn’t get to start modeling the NPC this past week, but I did find a chibi poly placeholder we can use for the first playtest.

The official model’s style and animation will be developed in parallel with narrative refinement.

Dialogue Triggers & Humor

I’m still working on where to place key dialogue beats during player interactions.

Humor writing, when I try to do it intentionally, is not my strong suit, which is why I’ve been hesitant to jump into it, but this week, I’m focusing on unlocking that voice and building momentum in the writing.
